[Abk. FC-AL, dt. »Glasfaserkanal mit Ringarchitektur«], eine der
Topologien für ein Fiber-Channel-Transportnetz (
Fiber Channel). Dabei sind bis zu 127 sog. Loop Ports (d. h. Sender und
Empfänger) ringförmig
angeordnet. Jeder Port reicht die nicht für ihn bestimmten Daten an den Nachbarn weiter (
Arbitrierung,
Busmaster). FC-AL wird z. B. für die Anbindung von Massenspeichern (Festplatten-Arrays) in Hochgeschwindigkeitsspeichernetzwerken (
Storage Area Networks,
SAN) eingesetzt.
